This committee's role is to develop the financial resources to fund the activities of the Claverack Democratic Committee. We plan and implement strategies to raise money through special events, direct mail and major donor solicitations. The committee meets infrequently and would welcome new members.
Our major fundraiser for Campaign 2005 was the Chemiakin Benefit on the afternoon of Sunday, October 16th: A Private View of Chemiakin and His Art. Mihail Chemiakin and Sarah de Kay generously opened their grounds, and his extraordinary sculpture studio, to benefit the Claverack Democrats. Sarah led numerous small-group tours of the sculpture studio, and light refreshments were served in their expansive sculpture garden. A wonderful framed Chemiakin lithograph, The Cossack, which is number 35 of 175 and is part of his Carnival at St. Petersburg series, was sold at silent auction. Also sold was a private and very extensive tour and tea, for four, which will be scheduled at a later date.
