Volunteer opportunities in the Town of Claverack and Village of Philmont:
The Claverack Democratic Committee always needsand welcomesvolunteers.
Please give the Democratic effort as much time and energy as you can, even if you think it's only a little. Choose something that suits your interest, ability and schedule:
Phone Calls: Phone other Claverack Democrats, but also Claverack residents with no party affiliation. Get to know the other people in this town who share many of your concerns.
Election Inspecting or Poll Watching: On every Election Day we need people to help out at the polls. Contact Tim or Laura Smith (672-4656) to get on the list for training and then for a shift at one of the town's six polling places.
Voter Registration: Comb the property tax rolls, voting rolls, and mailing lists for weekenders, newcomers, first-time voters, etc. Call them. Send them registration forms. Remind them to mail them or to deliver them to the Board of Elections at 401 State Street in Hudson.
Absentee Ballots: Comb tax rolls, voting rolls, and mailing lists for weekenders, college students, soldiers and homebound citizens who are likely to need absentee ballots for the 2006 election.
Contact: Virginia Martin, 851-5191.
